复星创建于1992年。作为一家致力于成为全球领先的专注于中国动力的投资集团，复星先后投资复星医药、复地、豫园商城、建龙集团、南钢联、招金矿业、海南矿业、永安保险、分众传媒、Club Med、Folli Follie、复星保德信人寿等。

复星集团的前身是“广信科技发展有限公司”。1992年成立之初，上海“广信”只是一家小规模的科技咨询公司，主营业务为市场调查和科技咨询，创业资本不过3.8万元。最初选择做市场调查业务，一是同为第一次创业的创业者都没有过产业经营的经验，而且当时允许私人参与的行业也有限；二是市场调查和咨询行业不需要很大的资本金，主要是靠智力因素，而且客户还会支付预付资金，很适合初次创业；三是当时市场有需求，但却没有专业的市场调查公司，“广信”作为第一批进入这个市场的企业，很快打开了局面，成为行业中领先企业。这从一定意义上鼓励了士气和勇气，激发了团队的战斗力。“广信”还有另外一个业务，就是科技咨询或科技推广，现任复星集团副董事长、首席执行官梁信军先生说：“我们当时想的一个很朴素的想法，就是把大学的这些技术能够产业化、在社会上广泛地应用。
